OVERVIEW
The Japan–World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program (JJ/WBGSP) is jointly funded by the Japanese government and the World Bank. It supports graduate students from World Bank member developing countries to pursue Master’s degree studies related to development at participating universities in Japan and other countries.
The programme targets mid-career professionals from developing countries who are working in development-related fields.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
- Must be a citizen of a World Bank member developing country
- Must have a Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of paid work experience in development-related fields
- Age limit: Under 45 years old
- Must apply to and be accepted by a participating partner university
WHAT’S INCLUDED?
- Full tuition fees at the partner university
- Monthly living allowance
- Round-trip economy class airfare
- Health insurance
- Travel allowance
HOW TO APPLY?
- Apply online through the JJ/WBGSP online application portal
- Must simultaneously apply to a participating partner university
- Application period: typically February–April each year
- Check the official World Bank website (worldbank.org) for the current list of eligible universities and programmes
