Czech Republic Government Scholarships

Overview

The Czech Republic Government Scholarships for Developing Countries are provided by the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MEYS) as part of the Czech Republic’s Official Development Assistance (ODA) programme. These scholarships are intended for students from developing countries to pursue bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral studies at Czech public universities. The programme aims to contribute to the educational and professional development of citizens from developing partner countries and to strengthen bilateral relations between the Czech Republic and these nations.

What’s Included?

Czech Government Scholarship recipients receive:

  • Full tuition fee waiver at a Czech public university
  • Monthly stipend (approximately CZK 6,100–8,200 per month depending on study level)
  • Free accommodation in university dormitories (subject to availability)
  • Student health insurance coverage
  • One-time travel allowance (in some cases)
  • Free Czech language course (one academic year preparatory course for programmes taught in Czech)

Eligibility

To apply, candidates must:

  • Be a citizen of one of the eligible developing countries designated in the Czech ODA programme (the list is published annually; check the DZS website)
  • Not hold Czech citizenship or permanent residency
  • Be under 26 years of age for bachelor’s programmes (age limits may vary by level)
  • Have completed the educational level required for the programme applied to
  • Demonstrate strong academic results
  • Be medically fit (health certificate required)

How to Apply

The application procedure is managed by DZS (The Czech National Agency for International Education and Research):

  • Check the current annual call on the DZS website for eligible countries and available fields of study
  • Contact the Czech embassy in your country to confirm the application procedure (many applications are submitted through Czech embassies)
  • Prepare documents: educational certificates (certified translations), language proficiency certificates, health certificate, passport copy, motivation letter, and completed DZS application form
  • Submit application to the Czech embassy or directly to DZS as specified in the call
