OVERVIEW
The Nigerian government offers scholarships through several agencies, including the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), the Federal Government Scholarship Board (FGSB), and the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC). These programmes support Nigerian students at home and abroad.
PROGRAMME TYPES
PTDF (Petroleum Technology Development Fund) Scholarship:
- For Nigerian nationals to pursue postgraduate studies in oil and gas, engineering, science, and technology
- Both in-country and overseas scholarships available (UK, Norway, USA)
- Covers tuition, living expenses, airfare, and health insurance
Federal Government Scholarship Board (FGSB):
- For Nigerian students admitted to federal government colleges and universities
- Bilateral scholarship processing: manages foreign scholarships offered to Nigerians
State Government Scholarships:
- Many Nigerian state governments offer their own scholarship programmes for indigenes studying in Nigeria and abroad
